FAQs

Top 10 Reasons for Students to Write the CASLPA Clinical Certification Exam...

  1. Clinical certification is the highest professional standard as set by the national association of my peers.

  2. Clinical Certification is well known as the highest standard of quality in most professions and services indicating, “a person has attained a standard of proficiency in a set of skills, knowledge and abilities”. CICIC, 2001

  3. If consumers, clients and employers have a choice between a clinically certified professional and a non-certified, most would prefer a certified person.

  4. Clinical Certification is an assurance to clients and employers that I am committed to ongoing education to keep my skills and knowledge current.

  5. Many international employers and associations recognize CASLPA clinical certification as evidence that the professional meets the requirement for recognition in another country.

  6. The clinical certification exam is an opportunity for me to demonstrate and compare my academic knowledge and applied clinical problem solving skills with graduates of other Canadian and international programs.

  7. I get a discount if I write the exam in the year I graduate (I do not have to pay the full membership/joint membership fees, only the student fee)

  8. Clinical certification gives me the confidence as a new clinician that I have the necessary background and core knowledge to work as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist.

  9. Past statistics indicate that new grads perform better than previous grads, so I should not put it off!

  10. Clinical certification sets me above the average. I want to be the best I can be.
