CASLPA Scholarship Programs Q and A

CASLPA has four scholarship categories offering 17 scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $2,500. Applicants must be enrolled in a master's degree program in speech-language pathology or audiology and will be evaluated based on level of academic work, clinical practicum, references and an essay including career goals.

Do I have to be a member of CASLPA?

Do I have to be a full time
student?
Yes

Applicants must be a full time student and have completed one year of full time graduate study.

Université de Montréal students may apply after acceptance into the graduate program.

Do I need to submit a separate application form for each scholarship?
No
 
If I am applying for more than one scholarship can I send in only one copy of the documents required (references, transcripts, research summary, essay)?
Yes
Only one copy of your references, transcripts, research summary, essay is required, along with a brief cover letter stating which scholarships you are applying for.
Is it ok to include the reference evaluation forms in my package, as long as they are signed across the envelope seal?
Yes
 
Can I submit a copy of my official transcripts
Yes
A clear copy or a printout from an official online student record is acceptable.
The criteria list says that I must submit official academic transcripts from all previous university course work. I was at a college for 2 years before I did my BA, and some of these courses were transferred as credit for my BA. Should I submit these transcripts as well?
Yes
If you submit the transcripts for your BA which includes the transfer credits, that will be sufficient. However, you should include a note indicating this, so that the Scholarship Committee will know the background.
When will the money be awarded?
2012
The committee plans to make the awards early in 2012.
If I've previously won one of these scholarships am I eligible to receive another one?
Yes
You may win a scholarship in successive years.
Can I win more than one of these scholarships this year?
No
You may apply for multiple scholarships but may only be awarded one for the year.
Can my academic reference be completed by any professor at my university?
No
Your academic reference must be an appointed faculty member, not an affiliated faculty member (i.e. sessional instructor)
