Who/What are #SLPeeps?
#SLPeeps is the self-proclaimed
name of a gregarious group of like minded speech-language pathologists
that have gathered on Twitter to discuss, vent, and share information
and resources. It's both a support group and a treasure trove
of resources and knowledge. The # is called a hash tag mark and
is used as a way of tracking group conversations.
There are hundreds of #SLPeeps involved including S-LPs from
Canada, the US, UK, Barbados and other places around the world.
They even have their own logo, created courtesy of CASLPA.

What Do They Do?
They converse through Twitter and have lots to share so you're
encouraged to join them. Just go to Twitter, create an account
and ID and introduce yourself in a post using the #SLPeeps hash
tag. Start by following @caslpa and CASLPA members @SLPTanya,
@ndnspeechmom @albrechtjn or send a message to @caslpa that
you're on Twitter and we'll get you in touch with your colleagues.
Collaborative Projects
One of the projects this group has collaborated on is the SLPeeps
Resource Share which is housed privately in Google Docs.
It's a place for S-LPs to share resources for speech, language,
social communication, swallowing, voice, flency and any other
area of interest. There are folders on AAC, APD, aphasia, cleft
palate, dysarthia, dyspahgia, fluency, literacy, phonological
awareness and more. There is also a folder containing links
to numerous web sites and resources as well as a Goal Bank that
provides samples of more than 230 short and long-term goals
in 15 areas (e.g., AAC, narrative retell, vocabulary, articulation,
trach/vent, etc).
How Do I Get Involved?
If you'd like access to the resource share, you must have a
Google account. Simply email pubs@caslpa.ca
with the email address associated with your Google account and
a permission will be added to the document and you will receive
an access notification link.
If you are using the Resource Share, it's strongly encouraged
that you also get on Twitter in order to interact with others
in the group. If you're not quite ready for Twitter yet you
can just follow the #SLPeeps twitter stream from this URL http://ow.ly/3eq7I
until you're ready.
So engage! Join in the conversation
and benefit from the amazing online community we are building.
