The scopes of practice were presented in draft form in the February 1992 edition of Communiqué. They were originally prepared by Jean-Pierre Gagné, former vice-president of professional and educational affairs. The list of practices in both S-LP and AUD were adapted (in large part) from: American Speech and Hearing Association (1990). Scope of Practice, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. ASHA, 32, (Supplement No.2), 1-2. First Revisions to the draft were overseen by Walt Green, former vice-president of professional and educational affairs; and were presented in the final form adopted for use by CASLPA. Further revisions were overseen by Sharon Fotheringham, Manager of Professional Standards and were passed by the CASLPA Board in May 1998. The 2008 versions, a separate scope document for each profession, was developed by a committee with consultation from members, regulatory bodies, provincial and territorial associations and CASLPA members and passed by the board of Directors in November 2008.
