NEW PUBLICATIONS
The following newly developed publications and brochures are available from the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association.

Hard of Hearing Youth Speak Out
What do young hard of hearing people think? This publication provides the views of 290 hard of hearing Canadian youth who completed a national survey; topics covered include education, access, self-identification and personal issues. Reports from two workshops involving hard of hearing youth are also presented. Editor: Ruth Warick. Cost: $7.

Equal Access to the Canadian Justice System for Persons who are Hard of Hearing or Deafened
This policy paper by the Human Rights/Legal Committee of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association addresses access for persons who are hard of hearing or deafened to the Canadian justice system. The document is intended to set policy directions for addressing the court-related needs of persons who are hard of hearing, including persons who are oral deaf and deafened adults. Cost: $7.

Information Brochures

Noise Annoys! Provides a chart of noise level and advises and how to fight noise pollution.

Living with a Hearing Loss. Describes a hearing loss, signs of deteriorating hearing and what can you can do.

Communicating with a Hard of Hearing Person. Explains how a hard of hearing person hears and how to improve communication.

Making the Invisible Visible. Provides suggestions for self-advocacy and self-identification of one's hearing loss.

Consumer Advice for Buying Hearing Aids. Provides advice on who to see to obtain a hearing aid and what to beware of, as well as how to ensure your rights when you make a purchase.

A Chance to Hear, A Chance to be Heard. A general information brochure about what CHHA does, how it operates and who can join.

Cost is 25 cents for each brochure; bulk orders include a postal and handling charge. Cost for reports is $7 each for Hard of Hearing Youth Speak Out & Equal Access to the Canadian Justice System.
