Audiologists, speech-language pathologists and supportive
personnel play a vital role in the health of Canadians. Recognize
the outstanding achievements of a fellow colleague by nominating
them for a CASLPA award!
Award
Descriptions
Award
of Excellence for Interprofessional Collaboration
This award recognizes interprofessional collaboration and acknowledges
the role that speech-language pathologists and audiologists
play on interprofessional teams. The award is presented to an
interprofessional team that has contributed/impacted/strengthened
patient/client outcomes and/or the fields of speech-language
pathology or audiology through their collaboration and teamwork.
Teams must demonstrate how they have followed and achieved the
principles that are considered critical to the success of an
interprofessional team and must consist of at least one CASLPA
member speech-language pathologist or audiologist and at least
two other health, education or other appropriate professionals.
Eve
Kassirer Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement
Awarded to a CASLPA member audiologist or speech-language pathologist
who has made a significant contribution in the areas of education,
clinical services, administration, and/or public awareness.
Through personal participation, he/she has fostered the development
and advancement of the professions.
National
Certification Exam Award
Awarded to the CASLPA member in each profession who attains
the highest score on the certification exam during the 2011
year. The winner is determined by CASLPAs Standards Advisory
Committee.
Lifetime
Achievement Award
Awarded to a CASLPA member (speech-language pathologist or audiologist)
who has a long history (minimum 25 years of membership) of distinguished
and dedicated service to both CASLPA and the profession of speech-language
pathology or audiology. This may include the areas of administration,
education, volunteer work, and clinical services.
Consumer
Advocacy Award
Awarded to an individual who is neither a speech-language pathologist
nor an audiologist who has actively and significantly advocated
on behalf of individuals with communication disorders. CASLPA
member supportive personnel are eligible for this category.
Isabel
Richard Student Paper Award
Recognizes the best papers written by CASLPA student members
on a specific topic related to the professions. Student members
in an S-LP or audiology program and doctoral student members
in any program are eligible. Essays shall be 1,000-1,500 words
for students below the doctoral level and 1,500-2,500 words
for doctoral level students. Submissions must be accompanied
by a standard nomination form completed by the applicant. Papers
will be judged on both style and content. Applicants may self-nominate
for this award. A nominator signature is not required. Specific
style and content criteria and topic choices are listed on the
award application forms. There are separate application forms
for doctoral level and below doctoral level students.
Student
Excellence Awards
Awarded to one student in each of the speech-language pathology
and audiology training programs in Canada who is felt to be
the best all-round future professional. Considerations include
grade point average, clinical ratings, peer support, and leadership
qualities.
Mentorship
Award
Awarded to a CASLPA member (speech-language pathologist or audiologist)
who has significantly influenced or contributed to the clinical
training and/or professional development of a student(s) or
colleague(s) in the field of S-LP or Audiology, either as a
clinical supervisor, mentor or academic faculty.
Editor's
Award
Recognizes the best paper published in the Journal of Speech-Language
Pathology and Audiology within the calendar year. CASLPA membership
is not a requirement.
Promotions
Award
This award honours deserving individuals for outstanding
contributions in promoting awareness and understanding of human
communication and its disorders in Canada. CASLPA membership
is not a requirement and eligible nominees include speech
language pathologists, audiologists, supportive personnnel,
journalists, students, clients, parents and related professionals.
Entries are judged on how well the material demonstrates a high
standard of educational activity and a responsible presentation
of information on human communication and its disorders. Submissions
of any of the following medium will be considered: written materials
such as newsletters, brochures, newspaper/magazine articles,
information packages etc., audio/visual materials including
radio or television broadcasts, talk shows, video training,
community cable programs, public awareness activities such as
May Month celebrations, billboards, posters, special events,
etc and new media including web sites, listservs, chat groups
etc.
Supportive
Personnel Award of Excellence
Awarded to a CASLPA supportive personnel member who has demonstrated
excellence in their field. Considerations include distinction
in assisting speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists
with implementation of treatment plans, materials etc., demonstration
of outstanding team participation and excellence in the provision
of patient/client care.
