CASLPA
Audiology Mutual Recognition Agreement with ASHA
The ASHA Council For Clinical Certification (CFCC) has determined
that the bi-lateral Mutual Recognition Agreement in Audiology
which was first signed in 1998 between ASHA and CASLPA will
terminate effective May 1, 2009. This action is being taken
due to the change in ASHA certification standards in audiology
which now mandate completion of 75 post-baccalaureate semester
credit hours of academic course work and the completion of 12
months full-time equivalent clinical practicum hours.
Until the termination date, the CFCC will be happy to receive
applications from CASLPA certified members in audiology. Applicants
will be required to submit documentation of 75 post-baccalaureate
semester credit hours from a program accredited by ASHA or approved
graduate course work through a Canadian audiology program as
well as documentation of 12 months full-time equivalent supervised
clinical practicum hours sufficient in depth and breadth to
achieve the knowledge and skills outcomes stipulated in ASHA's
Standard IV. Additionally, the CFCC will continue to honour
the passing examination score achieved on the CASLPA certification
exam until such time as the ASHA exam requirements are amended.
ASHA values its relationship with CASLPA and will continue to
offer the other membership benefits, such as member discount
to attend the ASHA conference and other ASHA products.
