Accreditation
Accreditation is widely accepted as the primary means for assuring
the quality of higher education programs, services and facilities.
CASLPA is involved in two accreditation streams.
- CASLPA is a partner on the Council for Accreditation
of University Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language
Pathology (CACUP-ASLP). This body accredits the university
programs in speech-language pathology and audiology. Contact
Bonnie James, executive
director, for information on CACUP-ASLP.
- The Canadian Accreditation of Service Programs (CASP)
has been a program offered by CASLPA for many years, promoting
excellence in the delivery of speech-language pathology and
audiology services. During the CASLPA Board meetings held
November 8-9, 2008, the Board of Directors finalized the decision
to discontinue CASP. Although the sites that hold CASP accreditation
value it highly, the program is one that has not been well
utilized over the years. The program will be phased out therefore
all sites currently accredited will retain their accreditation
until they reach their 5-year expiration date.
