CASLPA Resources

Provincial Education Fund

CASLPA values continuing education and ongoing professional development. In today's fast-paced professional environment, this need is becoming more critical.

CASLPA policy makes educational funding available through profits generated by the annual conference. Any surplus (up to $15,000.00), if realized, is distributed equally between each province/territory through the Provincial Education Fund.

Any CASLPA member in good standing may make application for funding.
(S-LP, audiologist, supportive personnel and students)
The funds may be used to support any educational events as per the guidelines and conditions outlined below.

Provincial/territorial associations and the general CASLPA membership (via web and enews) will be notified by December 31 of each year if a conference surplus was achieved and the amount, if any, that is available within their respective province/territory the following year.

To determine if there are funds available or to submit a request for funding contact your provincial/territorial director.

If you have any questions please contact your provincial/territorial director or Dawn Kelly, CASLPA manager of finanance and operations dawn@caslpa.ca.

Guidelines and Conditions

Guidelines

Approval of funding applications will be based on the following criteria and guidelines.

  1. Funds must be used to support education or education-related events (i.e. covering the fees for a speaker, developing education material or incurring reasonable costs to market a conference would seem appropriate whereas covering costs for coffee breaks or social events would not.)

  2. Funds must be used to maximize the educational benefits to as many CASLPA members as possible (i.e. it would seem appropriate to cover the costs for a speaker to present to a number of profesionals whereas sending one person to a conference to enhance his/her personal knowledge would not.)

  3. Funds should be pooled where appropriate (i.e. the maritime provinces might choose to jointly fund a speaker or speakers).

  4. Provincial events held within one month (before or after) the CASLPA conference will not be considered for funding.

Conditions

Along with these guidelines the following conditions apply:

  1. Monies assigned to a respective province/and territory in a given year that are not used may accumulate to be spent at a later date for an appropriate educational event for up to two years. Funds not expended at the end of the two year period will revert to CASLPA's Education Fund.

  2. CASLPA's contribution must be formally recognized prior to and during the appropriate educational event through signage, advertising, verbal acknowledgements, printed program, slide/powerpoint recognition at session/event. CASLPA may require evidence of recognition.

  3. Request for funding are to be made in writing to the CASLPA provincial/territorial director in advance of the event. Each request for funding must be approved by the appropriate CASLPA director before monies will be released.

  4. Each CASLPA provincial/territorial director, with the help of the manager of finance and operations, is responsible to provide a report annually detailing how the appropriate monies were spent.
