Instructions and Conditions
The Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and
Audiologists (CASLPA) 2011 conference will be held in Montreal,
Quebec. CASLPA invites program submissions to the annual conference.
Clinicians from all practice settings are encouraged to share
their insight, experience, methods and research. CASLPA invites
submissions of papers, poster sessions, scientific exhibits,
mini-seminars and videotapes. Multidisciplinary presentations
will be considered. Sessions will be scheduled daily from April
27-30, 2011.
SESSION TYPES
Paper Presentations: A paper presentation should be
based on current research that has not been published, clinical
experience, or case studies (45 minutes in duration).
Mini-seminars: These sessions are designed to provide
opportunity for interactive discussion of clinical practice
and professional issues (90 minutes in duration).
Poster Sessions: Poster presentations should stand alone
in conveying information. Each display should contain title
and author(s), statement of purpose, methodology, results and
conclusions. Posters must be in landscape format, no larger
than 2.4 m x 1.2 m. Authors are required to be present at designated
times to respond to questions and discussion.
Scientific Exhibits: These sessions will be incorporated
with the poster presentations. Exhibitors are required to be
present at designated times to describe and discuss the exhibit.
A table of approximately 1.8 m x .75 m and a poster board of
approximately 2.4 m x1.2 m will be available. Exhibitors are
responsible for providing all equipment that will be required.
DVD Presentations: DVDs may be presented on clinical
topics, case studies, agencies, therapy procedures or other
topics.

INSTRUCTIONS AND CONDITIONS FOR
ACCEPTANCE OF PAPERS, COMMUNICATIONS AND POSTERS
- The paper must not have been presented or published before
the date of the conference.
- Acceptance of an abstract for a presentation is conditional
upon payment of the conference registration fee. It is not
necessary to send the registration fee with the abstract;
it should be sent later with the registration form.
- All contributed paper and poster presenters are expected
to register and pay registration fees for the conference.
Those not registering for the conference will have their presentation
removed from the conference program.
- Submissions must be submitted online
and be accompanied by an abstract and a summary. The abstract
must not exceed 50 words. The summary should not exceed 400
words. Abstracts and summaries may be submitted in either
English or French.
- Proposals which are incomplete or do not follow the format
and length prescribed will be rejected.
- Abstracts from the annual conference will be published
in the spring 2011 issue of CJSLPA.
- All submissions will be peer reviewed and rated according
to :
A. quality
B. innovation
C. appropriateness to other accepted papers and speakers
D. appropriateness to the professions of speech-language pathology
and audiology
E. relevance to conference themes.
- CASLPA may record these programs and make these audio/video
recording or edited transcriptions available either free of
charge or for sale. Submitters are required to provide CASLPA
with permission to record, edit, transcribe, archive, duplicate,
distribute, reproduce and/or sell any written or visual materials
submitted in connection with these presentations.
- Only proposals received in by September 15th, 2010,
will be considered. It is estimated that the designated
author will be informed of the status of the proposal by November
2011.
- Consider carefully prior to submission that you are committed
to presenting at the conference should your paper be selected.
