Katie Scozzafava, CASLPA Board of Directors
Territories Representative

Katie Scozzafava, BA, MSc, S-LP (C)

Katie Scozzafava is a speech-language pathologist who enjoys having fun at work and being challenged by a diverse client base.

Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Sciences from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2000 and received her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at UBC in 2004. She received her CASLPA certification in 2004. She has continued to further her education by participating in many workshops such as PROMT, PECS, Hanen, and Lidcombe.

Katie has worked for Stanton Territorial Health Authority in Yellowknife since 2004. She provides assessment and intervention to all age groups in both her community and remote communities within the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. She has a strong interest in dysphagia and increasing the scope of this service within the territories. She also enjoys helping families learn how to support their children's development.

Katie has been an active member of the Association of Northwest Territorial Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ANTSLPA) since 2005. She has participated as president of the association (2005-2006) and as secretary/treasurer (2007-2011).

Being involved in CASLPA and ANTSLPA has been an excellent way for Katie to keep current on issues affecting the territory and the country. It has also been a great way to learn about all of the innovative things professionals are doing across the country. During this tenure, Katie would like to see CASLPA further advocate and increase awareness for speech and hearing professionals and the individuals we work with.
