Judy Meintzer, CASLPA Board of Directors
President Elect

Judy Meintzer, MSLP, R.SLP,
S-LP(C)
Judy is a speech-language pathologist who has
worked in the community for over 30 years. She believes we
need to use universal and targeted strategies to enhance language
rich environments in homes, schools and communities to best
support the communication needs of all people so they can
participate in the activities and roles they value.
Both of her degrees, a BSc in Speech Pathology
and an MSLP, were obtained from the University of Alberta.
Judy is a certified member of CASLPA and a registered speech-language
pathologist in Alberta. She has completed additional coursework
in the areas of early intervention, management and adult learning.
Throughout her career she has enjoyed her involvement
with families, professionals and the community. Limited resources,
high service demands and changing political mandates have
resulted in constant changes in the field of speech-language
pathology. In her roles as community speech-language pathologist,
clinical coordinator, program supervisor and clinical consultant,
she has constantly been challenged to seek creative solutions
and partnerships to provide the best possible programming
for her clients and communities. Her primary areas of interest
include early intervention, children with Down syndrome and
mentoring others to build their skills and confidence.
Judy has enjoyed her role as the CASLPA Director
from Alberta and looks forward to her involvement on the executive
committee. This experience has provided an excellent opportunity
for her to broaden her perspective of speech-language pathologists,
audiologists and supportive personnel working in a wide variety
of settings across Canada.
Judy is proud to be involved with CASLPA. She
believes CASLPA has a critical role in raising awareness of
the importance of audiology and speech-language pathology
across Canada. This increased awareness will help to build
healthy communication and listening environments that maximize
the communication potential of all Canadians.
