Melanie Moore, CASLPA Board of Directors
National Student Advisor

Melanie Moore, BFA, BEd, MSc (Candidate)

Melanie Moore is excited to take on the role of the CASLPA National Student Advisor, and is currently pursuing her MSc in speech-language pathology at Dalhousie University. She is eager to add the knowledge she is acquiring at Dalhousie to her background in performance and experience in education, and is looking forward to a career helping to create a more comprehensive approach to voice education for performers and professional voice users.

Melanie’s first degree was a BFA in Jazz Studies with Distinction from Concordia University. She has been lucky enough to live her dream, working as a professional singer and music theatre performer both on land and at sea; while on a hiatus from Disney Cruise Line, she earned her BEd at the University of Toronto, specializing in intermediate/senior level teaching vocal music and dramatic arts.

As a teacher, Melanie taught music, drama and music theatre at Etobicoke School of the Arts, a performance arts high school in Toronto. She also taugh all of the fine arts at Rick Hansen Secondary School in Mississauga, including music theatre, drama, visual art, band and guitar. Melanie trained young professional singers in the Toronto All Star Big Band, taught voice privately, and directed acappella groups at the University of Toronto. In between educational ventures, Melanie continues to enjoy performing with big bands and in musicals.

Melanie is excited to be involved in CASLPA. She recognizes the importance of CASLPA in promoting public awareness of speech-language pathology and audiology and providing national professional standards, and is grateful for this opportunity to learn about current issues and trends impacting the professions. Melanie is looking forward to representing student interests, advocating for continuing education, encouraging student involvement, and growing as a new clinician.
