CASLPA grants clinical certification to speech-language
pathologists and audiologists who successfully complete the
clinical certification exam and fulfill other requirements as
set out by CASLPA national standard including, possession of
a master's degree in
audiology and/or speech-language pathology or equivalent,
hold full membership in CASLPA and meet praticum requirements.
The exam is offered to students who have completed all course
work requirements and are anticipating graduation in the calendar
year of the exam, to members in good standing, and members whose
applications are in process of evaluation. To maintain clinical
certification status, members must accrue 45 continuing education
equivalents (CEEs) over a 3-year period. A wide variety of activities
are acknowledged to reflect the interests of members and the
opportunities available. Reports on CEEs must be recorded by
members and submitted annually in January.
You MUST BE A FULL MEMBER in good standing
in order to become clinically certified through CASLPA.
Membership in the Association is available to individuals who
are graduates of Canadian
university programs in speech-Language pathology or audiology,
or graduates of non-Canadian programs judged to be equivalent.

associations, your membership in CASLPA can be facilitated.

Your membership application must be complete before you may
apply for clinical certification.
CASLPA has mutual recognition agreements with
some international professional associations and there are requirements
and procedures before applying for membership and clinical certification
with CASLPA.
International graduates are sometimes required
to pass the clinical certification examination by one of the
regulatory bodies and, once licensed, are then eligible to apply
for CASLPA membership and clinical certification.

Becoming Clinically Certified
Successful examination candidates
must have their transcripts indicating degree granted and their
completed supervised clinical hours forms submitted to CASLPA
national office by their university before clinical certification
is granted. These materials must be submitted by the end of
the year in which the exam is written. A certificate of clinical
certification is forwarded to the newly certified member, the
member is assigned to a
3-year continuing education cycle and starts to collect continuing
education equivalents (CEEs) in the January following the certification
date.
Maintaining
Clinical Certification
To maintain clinical certification, the member
must pay their annual membership fees and meet the continuing
education (CE) requirements of 45 hours over their 3-year cycle.
