Guidelines for Members who are audited for
CEE Activities
To maintain the integrity of the continuing education component
of the certification standards, it is necessary to conduct an
annual audit. Audits are carried out on both audiologists and
speech language pathologists when a three year cycle is completed.
A random selection of certified members are sent a letter in
the spring after a three year cycle has been completed and are
asked to send in proof within 6 weeks. If members cannot prove
they have completed the minimum of 45 hours, they will lose
their certification. In cases of serious illness, consideration
will be given for extensions.
Examples for "proof" of completion of the activity
could be the following:
Category A: Conferences, workshops etc: A receipt from
a conference attended or handouts, an agenda of a seminar or
teleconference
Category B: University/college course: Proof of registration
for a university course, or if teaching, proof of contract,
outline of the course
Category C Study /Interest group: Dates of the study
group, verified by another attendee
Category D Self-Study: A list of articles read or tapes
audited
Category E: Supervision/Mentoring: A letter from the
university acknowledging your supervision of the SLP/AUD student
Category F: Professional publications: A copy of the
published article or acceptance letter from a journal
Category G: Presentation given in SLP/AUD: A program
or contract acknowledging your presentation, or a letter from
a person arranging a seminar requesting your presentation
Category H: Special project: Proof of completion of the
pre-approved project, either a letter from a person in authority
or a copy of the project
Proof for activities in the related category would be similar
to items in the specific area.
Proof of attendance should be kept for one year post completion
of a cycle. If you are audited and have not kept proof of an
activity, a signed statement from a certified colleague or supervisor
will be accepted.
